Shedding

Not that I want this to sound like an angry rant, but I absolutely hate it when I spend my hard earned money on a product that doesn’t live up to its expectations. In this instance I’m referring to a makeup brush that I bought from sigma for half the price of a brush by MAC about eight months ago. It was the flat top kabuki brush. I bought two brushes for my liquid foundation and then I got a free blending brush which I misplaced all for the price of what one mac brush would cost. I was ecstatic. Fast forward six months later, I began to notice how hard it was to clean the brush. I think the hairs are synthetic so that may have something to do with it, but I had to use EVOO to help lift the foundation (in the beginning this helped but after time I think the EVOO stayed in the brushes bristles). This caused me to unconsciously squeeze the bristles a little harder than I normally would in an effort to get everything out which it never totally was, and in turn I think the squeezing and pulling contributed to its premature shedding. Just this week I noticed that more than a few hairs were coming loose. So I took my thumb and pointer finger and pulled in an effort to get rid of the majority and ended up pulling out a whole plug!!! I damn near lost my mind. When it comes to putting on my makeup I have to have options. One or two brushes won’t cut it. I saved the hair plug to add to my post and I thought I saved the brush too but now I can’t find it. I must have thrown it in the trash where it belongs ;).  Now I’m in the search for a new flat top kabuki foundation brush and I think I found one through Shiseido for about $30. So wish me luck on my adventure and once I purchase this brush and use it a few times I will come back with the results. 🙂

Have you ever experienced shedding from one of your favorite brushes?
