Shea Moisture

Before I bought this product I did my research. I decided to try this out since I missed the Miss Jessie’s BOGO and didn’t get to purchase my “Quick Curls” I was looking for an alternative. After reading the reviews I became skeptical since the majority of people said the curling souffle was sticky because of the agave nectar in it.

I’m so glad that I didn’t let others reviews stop me from purchasing these products. They work so well together, they keep my hair moisturized and shiny, they give great hold without becoming hardened, they smell great and my hairstyle lasted a whole week before starting to look like it was time to be redone.

First let me walk you through how I decided to use the product. After co-washing my hair, I applied my Paul Mitchell leave-in conditioner (as I always do no matter what products I’m using) and then I began to section my hair using clips beginning at the nape of my neck. Next, to make sure my strands are still fully saturated I use my spray bottle and then scoop out the “Curling Souffle” which has a texture similar to Jello and apply it to my damp hair while scrunching. Next I applied the “Curl Enhancing Smoothie.” I continued this process all over my head until every piece of hair had product. Next I tried diffusing with my blow dryer. Notice I said “try.” This stuff did not dry at all!! I don’t know if that’s a plus or a minus. I guess it depends on what look you’re going for. It’s also possible that I used too much of the product, so next time around I will use less and give you an update.

After I was finished styling my hair I did notice that my neck became a little sticky which didn’t bother me much. I went to bed with a semi damp head and woke up the next day with dry hair. I could have worn my hair down but decided to wear it in a messy curly pony tail on top of my head like I usually do and I got compliments the same day. My hair looked amazing and each curl was defined.

So, after all that, if you’re looking for a new product I would definitely try these two products. The only downfall is that it took a while for the product to dry and the next day is when it became a little tacky, but I got used to it. Each product comes in a 12oz jar for $10.00! That’s a lot of product for such a low price. These are the first two hair products that I’ve tried from Shea Moisture and I look forward to trying more in the near future.
