Kinky Curly Curling Custard

KC.jpg
I must start off this review by saying I have my “Holy Grail” curling jelly which is the Camille Rose Naturals curling jelly, but I’m a product junkie who sometimes likes to try new products to see if a new or product I’ve never tried will work better than my HG. I was watching a review on YouTube by the Glamtwinz who have similar hair to mine, and they raved about the product and mentioned it works great in humidity which is was the selling point for me.

So I purchased the 8 oz. from Target for about $16.99 and used it with my leave in and styler and noticed that this product does have good slip and it makes my curls look very defined. I was able to wear my wash n go for four days which is cool, but my 3c hair tends to get/look dry and become less defined as the days go on.

The ingredient list is approved by me but I hate to say I think this product gave/caused me to have “product dandruff” and my scalp itched something terrible. I thought it was a fluke since I used about four products total in my hair and decided to give it a second try. To no avail I still have “product dandruff.” Because of this dandruff I haven’t decided if I’m going to continue to work with the product and “make it work,” or return it and stick to what I know.

I will update this post once I decide to use it again but for now I’m alternating between my As I Am curling jelly and the CRN.

Design Essentials- Curlforming Custard w/ Honey & Chamomile

Design Ess. Honey

I’m not a big fan of Design Essentials particularly because their products don’t seem to be “natural” products and that’s what I care about, but I know a few folks (beauticians) who use it on their clients. So when I was gifted this product from a friend after visiting a natural hair show in Dallas, I was somewhat excited to try it. After all this product did receive the Naturally Curly’s 2016 Editor’s choice award.

The product does smell very good, it’s the consistency of a watery jelly, so if you were to hold it upside down it would slide right out of the jar. I tried using this product, while doing my usual wash & go, on the back of my hair closest to my neck and could tell it wasn’t happening right away. It gave no hold whatsoever. So, I continued to use my CRN curling jelly on the rest of my hair and saved the D.E. for my edges. It still did absolutely nothing for my edges either except leave me with a white bugary residue. I have pictures for evidence:

Goop

It’s hard to see it from this picture but if you look closely you will see white residue that wouldn’t go away even when I added more water and oil to the front of my hair. So in short this product by Design Essentials is a no go for me and I will not purchase anything in the future from them.

Ciao!

I personally will stocking up on YSL’s Shocking mascara. Yes I will be getting three! MAC 3D Xtreme mascara isn’t too shabby but seeing as how I already have two back ups I won’t need another.

Garnier Micellar Water

garnier

Wow! Is all I have to say about this product. I purchased the “Pure Active” on the far right from Target for $6.99 not expecting much and was blown away! My makeup removal routine usually consists of the Neutrogena wipes, MAC cleanse off oil, my Clarisonic brush, and I’m good to go.

What peaked my interest in trying the Micellar water is I’ve heard a lot of good things in general about it, so I decided to give it a try  because I couldn’t believe that water could actually get rid of your makeup. Micellar technology  like a magnet, captures and lifts away dirt, oil and makeup leaving skin perfectly clean and refreshed without the need to rinse.

After using it once I knew this would be a staple product. I didn’t have to scrub or tug at my skin to remove my mascara, eye shadow, or eyebrows. It didn’t have a weird smell, feel sticky, or irritate my very sensitive eyeballs and eyelids and because of that I’m hooked.

I decided to add the ingredients in case you are ingredient cautious like myself (most of the time). Since it is a Garnier product I’m sure there are some harmful chemicals in this product, but until I find something more organic this is what I will be using.

INGREDIENTS

AQUA/WATER, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, ISOHEXADECANE, POTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, SODIUM CHLORIDE, HEXYLENE GLYCOL, DIPOTASSIUM PHOSPHATE, DISODIUM EDTA, DECYL GLUCOSIDE, POLYAMINOPROPYL BIGUANIDE

Marc Jacobs Beauty Remedy Concealer Pen

marc jacobs concealer penSo I was in Sephora earlier this week just browsing and looking to repurchase my favorite mascara ever, YSL Shocking, when I ran into an old friend/co-worker who works at Sephora and turned me on to this awesome concealer by Marc Jacobs. I fell in love with it immediately after trying it on the back of my hand. I loved the texture, consistency, coverage, and shade so I decided to get a sample before committing to the product fully.

For those that don’t know I love a good concealer, especially if its for under eye. Now I’m not someone who suffers form dark circles, but I feel throughout the day my under eye concealer starts creasing no matter if I moisturize the area well and apply a primer, that area has a mind of its own.

This products claim to fame is it’s an all-in-one eraser, brightener, and corrector to remedy the signs of aging, dehydration, and fatigue. After one use I couldn’t tell if it remedied the sings of aging, dehydration, or fatigue, but I will continue to use it to find out and update this review.🙂

EOS Smooth Sphere Lip Balm in “Sweet Mint”

eos lip balm

This is a unique little egg-shaped lip balm in itself. I’ve seen this balm for years but was hesitant to try it because I already had great balms that worked miracles, but after hearing a co-worker rave about it, I had to go out and buy my own for about $2.99 at my local Target. Unfortunately, this was a total let down. I love the look and the sturdiness of it, but the product itself was not moisturizing at all. I bought it when I was sick and bed ridden expecting it to be super moisturizing for my parched lips, but it felt like it just sat on top of my lips and made them peel. I’m almost tempted to scoop out the balm from the egg and add more shea butter and other moisturizing ingredients to it so I can have what I thought it would be. It did taste good and it’s not as expensive as my staple lip balms. That said, I don’t think I will be purchasing it again unless they revamp the ingredient list. I honestly think it may have too much beeswax.

Have you tried the EOS lip balms? What’s your opinion on them?
